There were three age categories and prizes given in each category. Rods/reels were furnished to the kids that did not bring their own. Many prizes were given away by raffle. Free goody bags were given to each entry as long as supplies lasted. Snacks were provided after the derby while prizes were being awarded.

This year, a special addition was the ID registration by the Williamson County Police, which was an opportunity for parents to have their children registered and their picture taken. The Johnston City Fire Department was there so that the children could check out the fire truck up close. This derby was an incredibly successful event which was enjoyed by many in the community.

This derby was made possible by many dedicated volunteers who planned and helped to make this a memorable occasion for the children and their families. Special thanks goes to Connie Oliver, who organized the entire event from start to finish. Much work went into planning all of the many details and seeing this derby finalized to completion. Many thanks also to the wonderful volunteers who helped with their time and individual talents.

The Fishing Derby was a great success. Seventy-four children fished for two hours, then received a snack, goodie bag, and prizes. Largest fish caught was an 18" catfish. Congratulations to all who made this great event possible.
