Williamson County Voters and Taxpayers:

On Tuesday February 5, 2008, during the Illinois Primary Election, the following question shall be put before the voters and taxpayers of Williamson County:

Shall the Williamson County Fair Board be allowed a tax (not to exceed .03 percent) of the value as assessed by the Department of Revenue, of all taxable property in Williamson County for the purpose of preserving our 150 year old County Fair Heritage?

The present Williamson County Fair Board respectfully requests your vote of "yes" on this important proposition. The amount of tax increase is estimated to be $1.00 per each $10,000 of property value. For example: property valued at $50,000 would be assessed a $5 annual increase in the real estate taxes. With the passage of the referendum, the tax change would go into effect in 2009.

The majority of funding for the fair currently comes from the production of the annual county fair held each summer. Funds for maintenance must be carefully budgeted throughout the year. The Williamson County Fair Board is dedicated to preserving this county fair tradition with very limited funds. The passage of this referendum would generate additional, needed, funds to keep this county fair tradition a reality.

Please vote "YES" to Preserve the Tradition!!
